Hi, I’m Jarrod.
Living in another country can be hard. You have to worry about new spoken and written language elements. But your foreign accent is often overlooked, because it seems impossible to change.
Even though it is natural to have an accent, this difference can block your message from reaching your listener’s ears (brain). The science behind this suggests that it is more effective to change your accent than to try to change your listener’s brain. That means it’s up to you.
The good news is, changing an accent is possible. I will guide you through the learning process, show you how you to improve, and cheer for your success.
I am a former university ESL instructor, private Spanish teacher turned bilingual speech pathologist. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology and am certified in accent training. I have lived in South America, traveled to many parts of the world, and continue to work on my own accent (American-accented Spanish).
I now live in San Antonio, Texas, USA with my wife and kids.
